It's time to enter your best at the Fair! The Home Arts showcases many entries from quilting to spinning, weaving, wood carving, decorative painting, leather craft, and culinary baking. Come and enjoy a little friendly competition, see what your talented neighbors have exhibited and who will win the sought-after 2024 Sweepstakes Awards.

RULES GOVERNING HOME ARTS EXHIBITS

The purpose of this Department is primarily educational. The offering of premiums for exhibits is to stimulate the desire on the part of the residents of the county to strive to improve their skills in every phase of Homemaking and Decorative arts. Residents in every part of the county are urged to compete for these premiums and share their skills and ideas with others.  ALL PREMIUMS MUST BE PICKED UP BY 6PM ON SATURDAY.  (no exceptions) Premiums can be picked up at Ledges Event Center.

The general rules and regulations of the County Fair Association and the following apply to the Home Arts Department and will be enforced.

PLACING & RELEASE OF EXHIBITS

o   All Home Art exhibits will be accepted ONLY on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, at the Ledges Event Center in Coalville between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

o   Baked goods will be accepted Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm or Wednesday August 7th, 2024 between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

o   Exhibits will be released to the public from 5:00 p.m. To 6:30 p.m., Monday August 12, 2024.

o   The Summit County Fair will NOT be responsible for any exhibits left after 6:30 p.m., unless prior arrangements have been made.

 RULES AND REGULATIONS

o   ARTICLES EXHIBITED AT PREVIOUS COUNTY FAIRS MAY NOT BE EXHIBITED.

o   Entries in this department are limited to current RESIDENTS OF SUMMIT COUNTY.

o   All entries of Home Arts must be the work of the exhibitor and must be complete and be entered with an official fair entry tag.

o   Work should not be older than one year from date of completion.

o   Soiled or poorly pressed articles showing definite sign of wear will not be accepted.

o   No other premium categories may be made without permission of the supervisor.

o   Exhibits must be delivered to the home of the Community Representative on Tuesday, or by arrangement of time and place by town representative. Call your town representative for more information.

o   Fair board officials will do all they can to protect exhibits, but ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGED, LOST OR STOLEN ARTICLES.

o   The Ledges Event Center will be open to the public on:

Thursday, August 8th, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Friday, August 9th, 10:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 10th, at 11:00 a.m. or as soon after the parade as possible and will close at 8:00 p.m.

o Town Representatives will pick up exhibits as stated above. If exhibits cannot be left until Monday please do not leave it to be entered as an exhibit.

o   Premiums will be paid for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placing. Judges decisions are final. Judging is by the Danish System.

o   A person may not compete against herself/himself with several items of the same kind. In the case of several items in the same class, pick one for competition and the others will be displayed, but will be judged if you desire. (Only one premium will be paid.) Items may only be entered in one Lot. Only one Lot per item.

o   A special award will be awarded to the most outstanding exhibit in each general class, with one or two judge’s choice ribbons in each class.

o   Exhibitor should circle appropriate exhibitor status on the entry tag: Youth 15 years of age and under, Senior Citizen, Professional or General. Copper plates and judge's choice ribbons will be awarded to Youth, Senior Citizen & Professional Divisions. Exhibits will not be considered for special award unless it is marked.

o   Premium money should be picked up at the place designated for premiums at the fairgrounds. Premiums will not be given after August 10.

o   All exhibitors are encouraged to submit entries to the State Fair. You do not have to win the sweepstakes in the county to be able to exhibit at the state fair.

o   A Sweepstakes plate award will not be awarded to the same person in the same class two years in a row.

o   Home Arts supervisors reserve the right to change exhibit classes and premium amounts as they deem necessary.

o   Each and every article exhibited will first be judged on its own merit for quality workmanship and design. Only in the case of selection for a sweepstakes award and judge's choice ribbons will items in one class be compared one to another.

o   Each general class must have at least three exhibitors for a sweepstakes award and judge's choice to be made.

o   Youth Exhibits: Youth Division will encompass exhibits of county residents up to and including age 15.

o   PLEASE BRING QUALITY ITEMS; ALL OTHERS WILL BE FOR DISPLAY ONLY. YOUTH MAY ENTER ONE EXHIBIT PER LOT NUMBER EXCEPT THE ARTS & CRAFTS, THEY ARE LIMITED TO 3 ENTRIES IN THAT CATEGORY. NO Lego type models or Puzzles will be accepted for exhibits. Individual exhibits may not exceed 12" in diameter or 14" in height. **Please note youth age on Entry tag!***

CAKES ARE TO BE AT THE Ledges Event Center IN COALVILLE ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10th, 2022 FROM 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR DECORATED CAKES

1.       Size: A disposable, but sturdy base is to be 1" larger than the finished cake. Cakes MUST NOT EXCEED 10" in diameter, if round, or 10 x 13 inches if rectangle. Height cannot exceed 12" if tiered

2.       All items used in decorations must be edible.

3.       Frosting is to made from scratch. Recipe for frosting is to be submitted.

4.       A Sweepstakes Award will be given as well as a Judge's Choice Award.

5.       Three Divisions will be recognized:

a.       Junior: Ages to 15 years

b.      Adult: Ages 16 to 64

c.       Sr. Citizen Age 65 & over
